Who I am: I’m a Registered Dietitian who coaches adults, children, and entire families at a private practice in downtown San Francisco. My philosophy is based on providing people with ways to feed everyone in the family in a healthy, well-balanced manner where food is not demonized and food is enjoyed and savored in a social environment.

I remember growing up and having family dinner almost every night of my life until I went off to college. My brother, my Mom, and my Dad all sat around the table talking about our day and eating whatever food my Mom put in front of us. Most meals contained rice, a protein (fish, pork, or chicken), a vegetable, and a salad. We grew up in Hawaii so rice was the primary starch. Chicken, pork, and fish were less expensive than red meat, so we had that more often. I definitely had my favorite dishes from my Mom (which I will share with all of you in following blogs containing recipes). And then I had my not-so-favorite meals. However, we always ate what we were given and if we didn’t want to eat something, that was all we got. Dinner time was a special time where food was savored and mealtimes were relaxing.

Today, I hear about so much chaos surrounding our meal times. Families don’t eat together due to busy schedules.

Today, parents make different dishes for their children. (This needs to change).

Today, people don’t spend time eating and they eat on the go constantly.

Convenience food is so much more common than it was back in the day. (We didn’t even own a microwave until 1988).

With my private practice and nutrition coaching, I plan on changing these poor habits and bringing back the basics of Family. Food. Fiesta. to all so that mealtime can be a time of enjoyment, nourishment, and togetherness. I promote eating family dinners, eating a variety of foods, and cooking only 1 meal for the entire family. Let’s get our nutritious health going in the right direction with the basics from our past.

Welcome and I look forward to hearing your feedback.
